In the 25 years the league has existed, players like Kelsey Bone have constantly fought for social justice. Five years ago, she was the first WNBA player to take a knee during the National Anthem.
NJS, alongside We Got Game 2, is officially teaming up with Kelsey to support her philanthropic efforts. A portion of the proceeds will be used to support the houseless and underprivileged communities in Houston and the residents recently affected by the winter storm.
"I saw Colin Kaepernick protesting and fighting for justice. That mattered to me, knowing these same injustices could easily happen to me. When I kneeled, I needed the young man who calls me his big sister to know that no matter what life threw at him, his sister would always fight to the death for him. I want people who look like me to know that someone out there cares. I lost a lot taking a stand for my people, but it’s a decision I will never regret." - Kelsey Bone
