Some projects don't come with a brief. They come with a vision — one that's been two decades in the making, drawn by hand, animated into cultural history.

This was one of those.

Two colorways. Two garments built to carry some of the most iconic artwork in music. From the sublimation process to the final stitch, NJS handled production — and this is the story of how we did it.

The Brief: Honor the Art

Jamie Hewlett — co-creator of Gorillaz and one of the most visionary artist— designed the artwork for these jerseys.

Hewlett's characters have lived on album covers, in animated music videos, on stage screens. They're dense, layered, expressive. Moving them onto a wearable garment — one that needs to hold up through a world tour, a sold-out crowd, a sweaty pit — requires a manufacturer who understands both craft and consequence.

That's where NJS came in.

Both jerseys feature the Gorillaz wordmark rendered in the band's signature graphic font — bold, halftone-shaded, comic-weight lettering that pulls from Hewlett's roots in Tank Girl and the visual language he's built over a career that spans continents.

The Gorillaz characters are woven into the base layer of both colorways, visible only when the fabric catches light at the right angle. It gives the jersey depth that a standard screen print never could. We had to go thru countless renditions and variations for approval which through our meticulous process we got approval on the right tones after just a few tries.

A classic football polo collar in cream/off-white — a nod to vintage football aesthetics that grounds the jersey in sport while the Gorillaz branding pulls it firmly into culture. With World Cup 2026, the jersey was fitting for the moment.

Not only are we in charge of creating Jerseys that features embroidery and vinyl prints on top of sublimated premium mesh but NJS is in charge of international world wide shipping and deadlines that not many production houses can manage. From China to London to Florida - our team helped manage to facilitate a world wide run to ensure the band had merch available at stops and online for fulfillment. whatever your goals are, NJS can help you get there.

NJS as the Cog in the Machine - That's the role we play at our best — not just a factory, but a production partner that understands why every decision matters. The weight of the mesh. The precision of the sublimation registration. The placement of a patch to the millimeter. These aren't finishing touches. They're the difference between merchandise and a garment people keep for ten years.

The Gorillaz project is a reminder of what's possible when the brief is ambitious and the execution is locked in.
