The Brief: Honor the Art
Jamie Hewlett — co-creator of Gorillaz and one of the most visionary artist— designed the artwork for these jerseys.
The characters have lived on album covers, in animated music videos, on stage screens. Moving them onto a wearable garment — requires a production team who understands both craft.
That's where NJS came in.
Both jerseys feature the Gorillaz wordmark rendered in the band's signature graphic font pressed on top of sublimated premium mesh of The Gorillaz characters. It gives the jersey depth that a standard screen print never could. We had to go thru countless renditions and variations for approval which through our meticulous process we got approval on the right tones after just a few tries.
A classic football polo collar in cream/off-white — a nod to vintage football aesthetics that grounds the jersey in sport. With World Cup 2026, the jersey was fitting for the moment.
