Bringing Love to the Streets: NJS for HoopBus Philippines
For the inaugural launch of The Hoop Jeep, New Jersey Sets (NJS) had the honor of designing a jersey that wasn’t just apparel—it was a moving canvas of culture, color, and purpose.
Taking inspiration from the vibrant energy of Filipino jeepneys, the NJS jersey bursts with bold patterns and dynamic tones, proudly reflecting the colors of the Philippine currency—a tribute to national pride and community connection. The design fuses street culture with hoops heritage, wrapping the spirit of Manila in every thread and every roadway that sprawls across the archipelago like veins in our body.
At the heart of the creation was Kooky Binamira, renowned artist and illustrator, who led the visual storytelling behind the piece. Kooky’s deep understanding of Filipino identity and knack for playful, energetic illustration brought the jersey to life with a distinct artistic flair that feels both authentic and fresh.
But this collaboration goes deeper than aesthetics. As a brand built by hoopers and coaches, NJS believes basketball is a bridge—between people, between stories, and between purpose and play. Designing jerseys is just another form of coaching: understanding the soul of a team, drawing out its best, and crafting something that builds unity and confidence. For HoopBus Manila, that meant channeling the mission of spreading love through basketball across the city, one court and one community at a time.
This launch isn't just about jerseys. It's about what happens when art, purpose, and the power of the game collide.
